Dr. Edward Doherty is a double board-certified physician in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine with over a decade of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of complex chronic pain conditions. He completed his fellowship in Pain Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and his residency in Anesthesiology at Tufts Medical Center. Dr. Doherty earned his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Boston University.
Known for his patient-centered approach, Dr. Doherty utilizes a comprehensive, multimodal strategy to manage pain, emphasizing evidence-based interventions and maximizing functional recovery. He performs a wide array of fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided procedures and advanced therapies such as neuromodulation.
Dr. Doherty has served in clinical leadership roles, including medical directorships, where he developed safety protocols, optimized surgical center operations, and led initiatives to enhance procedural quality and patient outcomes. He has also been actively involved in medical education, teaching at both Tufts University and Harvard Medical School, and mentoring residents and non-physician providers throughout his career.
He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Spine Intervention Society, and the North American Neuromodulation Society.
